Bases of the league 2023-2024

The Objective of the Leagues

The aim of the Spanish and Portuguese V:TES leagues is, first and foremost, to promote interaction between the different playgroups in the communities. They also seek to establish a regular competitive play calendar, recognized and supported by the Princes, and, of course, to have fun.

The 24–25 Iberian V:TES League, in its second edition, aims to build on the successes of previous regional editions, involving both the Spanish and Portuguese communities. The goal is for all players, both newcomers and veterans, to have a forum to play and meet people who share their hobby, beyond their local group.

For the first time, this edition of the leagues will be organized in collaboration with the Conclave Ibérico: Spanish Association for the Game Vampire: The Eternal Struggle.

The growing number of players makes us very optimistic about this edition of the Iberian V:TES League. However, due to this increase, the league rules may be modified at any time to address unforeseen issues and circumstances.

The Format

Regional leagues will have different numbers of rounds depending on the possibilities of the Princes in each region, but all must comply with the following structure and operational agreements:

Communities wishing to join the league circuit must apply explicitly and meet the following conditions:

Regional Leagues

Regular league tournaments will be organized by the local Princes and will have a format of 2 rounds plus a final, or 3 rounds with or without a final, depending on the organizer. A maximum of one tournament per month will be held, according to the schedule established by the Princes in August 2024.

Each tournament will add the players’ scores, accumulating them throughout the regular league tournaments. Only the official rounds of the tournaments will count towards the league (finals’ scores are ignored).

After each tournament, the league standings will be updated. After the last tournament, before the invitational (if held), the final league ranking will be announced. The player with the highest score will be the league champion, the second will be the runner-up, and the third will take third place.

Iberian League

The Iberian League is essentially a ranking where the regional league tournaments score points. The league standings will be updated according to special rules, as players who score points in a tournament of a regional league other than “their league” will receive a multiplier according to a specific table (at the end of this document).

There are 11 regions organizing leagues.

The winner of the Iberian League will hold the title of Iberian Archon until the end of the next league season.

Invitational Tournament

The final invitational tournament of each regional league is optional. It will be played after the regular tournaments (usually in July or August 2024). All winners of the regular tournaments and the top players in the regular league standings, up to the event’s player limit, will be eligible to participate.

The invitational tournament will be played in the same format as the regular league, with 2 or 3 rounds plus a final. The winner of the invitational will be the region’s Champion until the end of the next edition.

The invitational tournament will have its own prizes at the discretion of the organizer and will be exempt from collecting one euro per player, as the league will have ended.

The League Committees

The committee of each league will be chosen by the previous committee with the assistance of the Spanish NC. It should be composed of 3 or more active members of the community who can commit to at least one year in their roles. Their main functions will be:

League Players

In an Iberian V:TES League, exemplary behavior is expected from all participants, whether players, organizers, or judges. A healthy competitive environment is encouraged, where novice players are helped to learn the rules whenever possible.

The league committee has the right (after consultation with the Princes of the region) to disqualify a player whenever deemed necessary (especially for toxic behaviors that harm the community’s spirit).

Tournament organization matters remain the responsibility of the organizing Prince (decklist submission, use of proxies, etc.). The organizing Prince must deliver one euro per tournament participant to the regional league committee.

Members of the Conclave Ibérico are entitled to a €2 discount on the registration fee for league tournaments (in any region). Organizers are encouraged to account for this factor when forecasting revenue.

League Prizes

The prizes for the Iberian League and the regional leagues will be decided by each committee, with no player being entitled to a specific prize. Regular league prizes will be 100% of the amount collected and reserved for this purpose, always given in sealed V:TES products or merchandise.

It is important to note that no organizer will receive money for their organizational duties under any circumstances. All money collected during the league will go to prizes, and the committee will decide how it is distributed (though it is recommended to have, at a minimum, distinctive prizes for the top three players).
