Bases of the league 2024-2025
The Objective of the Leagues
The aim of the Spanish and Portuguese V:TES leagues is, first and foremost, to promote interaction among the different playgroups in the communities. They also seek to establish a regular competitive play calendar, recognized and supported by the Princes, and, of course, to have fun.
The Iberian VTES League 24-25, in its second edition, aims to continue the successes of previous regional editions, involving both the Spanish and Portuguese communities. The goal is for all players, both newcomers and veterans, to have a forum to play and meet people who share the same hobby, beyond their local group.
For the first time, this edition of the leagues will be organized in collaboration with the Conclave Ibérico: Spanish Association of the Game Vampire: The Eternal Struggle.
The growing number of players makes us very optimistic about this edition of the Iberian V:TES League. However, due to this increase, the league rules may be modified at any time to address unforeseen issues and circumstances.
The Format
Regional leagues will have different numbers of events depending on the possibilities of the Princes in each region, but all must adhere to the following structure and operational agreements.
Communities wishing to join the league circuit must apply explicitly and meet the following conditions:
- Geographically define the region, ensuring that there is at least one active organizer during the previous season. Provide a list of active Princes in the region.
- Organize between 5 and 10 league tournaments between September and July. Additionally, it is optional to organize a final open or invitational tournament.
- Submit the tournament schedule before August 17, 2024, indicating at least the month in which each tournament will take place and the organizing Prince (it is encouraged to define the exact date from the start).
- Form a league committee of at least three active players from the region.
- Use the BcnCrisis web tool and upload the Archon to the VEKN within 15 days after the tournament.
- Follow the guidelines on which promotional card is distributed at each league event and offer a €2 discount on the registration fee to all members of the Conclave Ibérico.
- Do not organize league tournaments during the weekends before, during, and after the National Championship or the Iberian GP. League tournaments will follow the “standard” format.
Regional Leagues
Regular league tournaments will be organized by the Princes of the area and will have a format of 2 rounds plus a final, or 3 rounds plus a final, with or without a final, depending on the organizer. A maximum of one tournament per month will be held, according to the schedule established by the Princes in August 2024.
In each tournament, players’ scores will be added up, accumulating throughout the regular league tournaments. Only the formal rounds of the tournaments will count toward the league (finals’ scores will be ignored).
After each tournament, the league standings will be updated. After the last tournament, before the invitational (if held), the final league ranking will be announced. The player with the highest score will be the regular league champion, the second will be the runner-up, and the third will take third place.
Iberian League
The Iberian League is essentially a ranking in which the tournaments of the regional leagues score points. The league standings will be updated according to special rules, as if a player manages to score points in a tournament of any regional league other than “their league,” they will receive a multiplier according to a specific table (at the end of this document).
Eleven regions that organize leagues have been defined.
The winner of the Iberian League will be the Iberian Archon until the end of the new league season.
Invitational Tournament
The final invitational tournament of each regional league is optional. It will be played at the end of the regular tournaments (usually during July or August 2024). All winners of the regular tournaments and the top players in the regular league standings, up to the event’s player limit, will be eligible to participate.
The invitational tournament will be played, like the regular league, in a format of 2 or 3 rounds plus a final. The winner of the invitational tournament will be the regional Champion until the end of the next edition.
The invitational tournament will have its own prizes at the discretion of the organizer and will be exempt from the collection of one euro per player, as the league will have ended.
The League Committees
The committee of each league will be chosen by the previous committee with the help of the Spanish NC. It should be composed of 3 or more active community members who can commit for at least one year in their roles. Their main functions will be:
- Safeguard the collection of 1 euro per participant from each regular league tournament.
- Decide, purchase, and pay for the league prizes (it is good practice to do this before it becomes evident who will win those prizes).
- Apply common sense to any unforeseen matters that may affect the league and support the decision taken by the majority of the committee.
- Deliver the relevant promotional cards for that tournament to the participants. Along with the schedule submitted on August 17, it will be indicated which promo will be given at each tournament. Only players attending the designated tournament will receive that specific promo, as it will not be given again at a later tournament. Remember that the goal of the leagues is to encourage participation.
League Players
In an Iberian V:TES League, exemplary behavior is expected from each and every participant, whether players, organizers, and/or judges. In addition, a healthy competitive environment is expected, where novice players are helped to learn the rules whenever possible.
The league committee has the right (after consultation with the Princes of the region) to disqualify a player whenever deemed appropriate (especially for toxic behavior that undermines the community spirit).
The aspects related to the organization of the tournaments will remain the responsibility of the organizing Prince (decklist submission, use of proxies, etc.). The organizing Prince must deliver one euro per tournament participant to their regional league committee.
Members of the Conclave Ibérico will be entitled to a €2 discount on the registration fee for league tournaments (in any region). Organizers are encouraged to make a revenue forecast taking this factor into account.
The League Prizes
The prizes for the Iberian League and the regional leagues will be decided by each committee, with no player entitled to a specific prize. The prizes for the regular league will be 100% of the amount collected and reserved for this purpose, and will always be delivered as sealed V:TES products or merchandise.
It is important to note that no organizer will receive money for their organizational duties under any circumstances. All money collected during the league will be allocated to prizes, and it will be up to the committee to decide how to distribute it (although it is recommended that there be at least distinctive prizes for the top 3 participants).
